Work
Work [in physics] is said to be done when a particular force acts on an objects and then that object displaces(cover some distance) due to that particular force.
It is important that force must cause that object to displace.
Therefore, the key ingredient to work is force, displacement and cause.
Work done is represented as W
Force is represented as F
Displacement is represented as S
W ∝ F
W ∝ S
Therefore, W ∝ F × S
W = k × F × S; k =1
Therefore,
W = F × S
If force acts on some particular angle to displace the object, then
W = F × cos θ × S ; where F - force, θ - angle at which force is applied and S is displacement.
Therefore,
W = F × cos θ × S
SI unit of Work done is Joule
Base unit of Work done is N/m
